Application Process

Thank you for choosing SBLI to help protect your family’s future. We’re committed to making the application process simple, convenient, and no nonsense. Here’s how it works:

STEP 1

First, your agent will send you an application. Fill in any missing information, or call your agent if you have any questions. Meanwhile, your agent will contact Portamedic, our trusted paramedical exam partner.

STEP 2

Portamedic will call you to schedule a brief, no-cost medical exam in your home or another location of your choosing. Please make sure your application is complete—you will need to give it to Portamedic on the day of your exam. Learn more about what to expect during this exam.

STEP 3

Once we receive your exam results and completed application, your application will be thoroughly reviewed and your initial rate class confirmed. We will contact you if we have any questions. Then we will begin the underwriting process and make a final decision on your application.

STEP 4

If your application is approved, we’ll send your term policy or whole life policy to you promptly, along with a choice of convenient payment options. Remember, your policy is not in force until we receive your first premium payment. If your application is not approved, we’ll send a detailed explanation and potential next steps.
